General Guidelines:

  • Wash: Wash your hands before touching your tattoo, and then gently wash the tattoo with warm water and fragrance-free, hypoallergenic soap. Use an antibacterial soap if available.

  • Dry: Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or soft cloth. Don't rub or use a washcloth.

  • Moisturize: Apply a small amount of fragrance-free, alcohol-free moisturizer or ointment to the tattoo. You can use an unscented lotion like Aquaphor (1st 24-48 hrs only) and or Eucerin (Preferred).

  • Protect: Keep the tattoo out of the sun until it's fully healed. You can wear loose, sun-protective clothing or stay in the shade.

  • Avoid: Don't swim in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean. Don't pick at scabs.

  • Repeat: Wash the tattoo area three times a day, and gently pat it dry. Keep applying moisturizer or ointment after you clean your tattoo.

  • Be patient: It can take up to three months for your tattoo to fully heal.

    Healing using a skin bandage:

  • Leave it on: After your tattoo is applied, leave the Skin bandage on for at least 24 hours, it can be left on 3-4 days if there is no body fluid under the bandage.

  • To remove the bandage, you can:

    Remove it in the shower

  1. Find an edge of the bandage

  2. Pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth

  3. Let water wash over the tattoo and bandage

  4. Using antibacterial soap, fragrance-free soap can aid in removing the bandage.

  • Wash it: After removing the bandage, wash the tattoo with a mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. You can use your hand, but avoid washcloths.

  • Dry it: Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel and let it air dry for a few minutes.

  • Moisturize it: After removing the bandage for the final time, you can apply a small amount of unscented, non-greasy lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized. You can use products like Eucerin. Avoid using petroleum, which can prevent the skin from breathing.

  • Be careful, don't use creams that contain cortisone, as they can damage the tattoo.
